From the Apple Watch

Yesterday I took delivery of a Fitbit Sense 2 smartwatch. I have a very nice Apple Watch which costs over 2.5 times the cost of the Fitbit. Full transparency here – my company provides $600/year towards wellness/fitness items. The Apple Watch was just over $600, and the Fitbit, after our company discount, was only $219.

Why did I do this? The Apple Watch was too complex for me and does way more than I ever need. Also, I was really annoyed at how it is always asking if I want to share what I am doing with others (No, I don’t!). I just want to track my steps – all day.

Here are the instructions on the available options to track and view your steps on an Apple Watch:

To track steps on your Apple Watch, follow these steps:

  1. Use the Fitness App: Open the Fitness app on your Apple Watch to view your step count and activity history.
  2. Check the Activity App: Press the Digital Crown, select the Activity app, and scroll down to see your total steps for the day, along with distance and flights of stairs climbed.
  3. Set Up Step Tracking: Ensure your Health app on your iPhone is linked with your Apple Watch to track steps effectively.
  4. Use the Pedometer Feature: The Apple Watch automatically counts your steps using its built-in pedometer.
  5. Sync with Health App: Your step data syncs with the Health app on your iPhone for easy viewing.

By following these steps, you can easily monitor your daily step count on your Apple Watch.

Really? Oh, and if you stop during your “activity” your watch will ask you if you are still performing your activity – No, my dog that I am walking during my activity just took a massive dump and I am stopping to clean it up…

Here are the instructions for using my Fitbit to track every step I take all day:

Put Fitbit on wrist
Walk

The Apple Watch is an incredible “piece of kit” as all my British friends would say. Incredibly built, very stylish. I use it when I want that “fine watch” kind of look – but, really – I just want to track and count my steps to motivate me to walk 10k steps a day!
