AUDIOPHILE

I am an audiophile. There, I said it. It sounds so odd, almost embarassing to say. After talking with Copilot for a while, the best idea it came up with is that roughly 1% of the people who listen to music self-identify as being an audiophile. That puts me in some rare company!

Let me share part of a quote from Steve Guttenberg (see the bottom of this page for more on this quote): “You might be an audiophile if: you have a certain passion about playing music, making it sound better…you can listen to music without multitasking…”

Basically, an audiophile is somebody who enjoys listening to music, and at least some of the time, it is a focused activity for them. There is a lot more to it than that, but that is the hobby in a nutshell (well, really it is just the tip of the iceberg!)

I have had quite an audiophile journey over the past several decades and I would like to share those experiences with you on this site.

And as Hans Beekhuyzen says: “And whatever you do…Enjoy the music!”

Hans beekhuyzen

“And whatever you do…enjoy the music!”

Mike & Dave from Hi-Fi Riff

Mike: “We’ve hit an incredible milestone in HiFi Riff history…yes, we’ve achieved a million views!”

Dave: “Yes!”

Mike: “I didn’t think we’d ever do that”

Dave: “I didn’t think people had that much time to waste!”

Steve Guttenberg

“You might be an audiophile if: you have a certain passion about playing music, making it sound better…you think tube amplifiers are beautiful…if you stay up late listening to music…you want to keep playing music…you can listen to music without multitasking…the gear itself doesn’t make you an audiophile…the guy with a $10,000 system isn’t more of an audiophile than the guy with a $1,000 system…I don’t understand why people deny it or are ashamed of it.”
